Jennifer Garner Headlines Netflix Crypto Comedy

Jennifer Garner to star and produce Netflix crypto comedy “One Attempt Remaining”
Netflix is developing a new comedy feature, “One Attempt Remaining,” with Jennifer Garner signed on to star and produce. The project pairs Garner with director Kay Cannon, known for comedies including “Blockers” and “Cinderella.”
According to Netflix’s announcement and multiple trade reports, the film centers on an ex-couple who divorced after a rocky split, only to learn years later that cryptocurrency they once won together on a cruise is now worth millions. The catch: they must recover access to the wallet by recalling a forgotten password, turning a piece of digital financial security into the story’s central obstacle.
Garner will also produce the film alongside Shawn Levy and Dan Levine of 21 Laps. The project continues Garner’s ongoing work with Netflix following “Yes Day” (2021), “The Adam Project” (2022), and “Family Switch” (2023).
The premise taps into a well-known reality of crypto ownership: access to funds can be permanently lost if private keys or passwords are misplaced. Some coverage of the film has described the sum at stake as $35 million, underscoring how wallet access and key management can carry consequences far beyond day-to-day convenience.
In broader context, “One Attempt Remaining” joins a growing wave of mainstream entertainment that uses crypto as a plot driver—less as a market narrative and more as a way to explore digital risk, personal responsibility, and the practical challenges of self-custody through character-driven storytelling.
