Bitwise Updates Ethereum ETF Filing to Add Staking

Bitwise Amends Ethereum ETF Filing to Include Staking Mechanics
Bitwise has amended its filing for an Ethereum exchange-traded fund to include provisions related to staking, adding a new element to its proposed product structure.
Staking allows participants to help secure the Ethereum network by committing ether to the protocol. In return, stakers may receive network rewards. Including staking mechanics in an ETF filing raises questions about how those rewards would be managed and reflected within the fund.
The amendment does not itself indicate that the ETF has been approved. It represents an update to the proposal as it moves through the regulatory process.
Staking has become an important consideration for Ethereum investment products because it can provide an additional source of potential returns beyond changes in the asset’s market value. At the same time, incorporating staking into a regulated fund may require clear rules around custody, liquidity, fees, and the treatment of rewards.
Bitwise’s filing adds to the broader discussion over how Ethereum-based investment products can provide exposure to the network while accounting for the features that distinguish ether from other digital assets.
