Whale Moves $34M in 2013 BTC Bought at $131

Bitcoin whale moves $34 million in BTC it got in 2013 when coins traded at $131

A long-dormant bitcoin wallet from 2013 has moved 411 BTC, now worth roughly $34 million, according to blockchain data. The coins were originally acquired in late 2013 when bitcoin traded around $131.

The transfer originated from the address 1KAA8GGhVjjUjVTz1HKAjCyGNzAKQd882j, which Blockchair data suggests was funded with probable mining rewards in late 2013. The funds were sent to bc1qm6m6d33d02edr0k8yj9jgt027zl6dvx6thjrxy, a Bech32 native SegWit address that was created just the previous day, on May 10, 2026.

One notable detail was the transaction fee: 0.0001 BTC, or about $8 at current prices. Chainalysis’s 2026 Crypto Crime Report has said that typical bitcoin exchange inflow transactions tend to carry average fees that are about 10 times higher, making this comparatively low-cost transfer stand out as non-urgent in terms of confirmation priority.

The movement adds to a broader pattern of older wallets becoming active again. Market trackers have highlighted a rise in transfers from long-dormant addresses in 2026, including other large one-off moves involving bitcoin that had not changed hands for years.

While on-chain transfers do not, by themselves, indicate a sale, they are closely watched because they can shift supply between storage setups, custody arrangements, and transaction pathways. Lookonchain data has also indicated that a significant share of 2026 whale moves involving bitcoin dormant for more than seven years has resolved as OTC activity within 48 hours, based on its tracking dashboard.
