Crypto Leaders Armstrong, Garlinghouse Join U.S. CFTC Advisory Panel

Crypto execs Armstrong, Garlinghouse among many named to U.S. CFTC advisory group
The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has named a roster of industry leaders—including Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong and Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse—to an agency advisory group focused on market issues under the CFTC’s remit.
The appointments place prominent crypto executives alongside other market participants in a formal channel the CFTC uses to gather input on how markets are functioning and how policy choices may affect them.
Advisory groups do not set rules or make enforcement decisions. Instead, they are designed to provide a structured way for regulators to hear from a cross-section of stakeholders as the agency oversees derivatives markets such as futures and swaps, and as digital-asset-related products increasingly intersect with those markets.
The development matters because the CFTC is one of the key U.S. regulators touching crypto markets, particularly where products resemble commodities derivatives. Bringing high-profile executives into an advisory forum reflects the growing importance of digital-asset market structure discussions within traditional regulatory processes.
