Baldur’s Gate 3 Studio Bans AI Art in Divinity

‘Baldur’s Gate 3’ Studio Larian Says Next ‘Divinity’ Game Won’t Use AI-Generated Art

Larian Studios, the developer behind Baldur’s Gate 3, said its upcoming RPG Divinity will not include generative AI-created artwork, according to a public statement from studio head Swen Vincke.

Vincke addressed the topic while responding to a fan question, stating plainly: “there is not going to be any GenAI art in Divinity.”

At the same time, the studio’s position is not framed as a blanket rejection of the technology. Vincke indicated Larian still sees potential benefits in generative AI, even as it draws a clear line around how it will be used for the next Divinity title.

The statement lands amid wider debates across games and digital media about where AI-generated content fits in creative production. For studios, the question often centers on how to balance new tooling with established artistic workflows—especially as players and creators scrutinize transparency, creative ownership, and the role of human-made work in major releases.
