Beckham-backed Prenetics Drops Bitcoin Investment

David Beckham-backed Prenetics ditches bitcoin purchase

Prenetics, a health-sciences company backed and co-founded by English football icon David Beckham, said it won’t allocate any existing or new capital for the purpose of buying additional bitcoin.

The move marks a clear shift from the company’s earlier approach. Prenetics began buying Bitcoin earlier this year, joining a small group of companies that have treated the asset as a treasury strategy rather than simply a trade.

Prenetics is now the latest digital-asset treasury firm to pause that playbook, as depressed crypto prices continue to weigh on corporate appetite for expanding Bitcoin holdings.

The decision matters because corporate participation has been a visible part of Bitcoin’s mainstream narrative in recent years. When companies add Bitcoin to their balance sheets, it can signal institutional confidence and influence how other firms view digital assets as a long-term reserve asset.

For now, Prenetics’ statement indicates a more cautious stance: continuing the strategy is no longer a priority, and the firm is drawing a line against committing additional capital to further Bitcoin purchases.
