Bitcoin Near $84K as Williams Signals No 2027 Rate Hikes

Bitcoin climbs toward $84,000 after Fed’s Williams sees no rate hikes in 2027

Bitcoin moved closer to $84,000 in Wednesday’s Asian trading session, rising about 1.5% to nearly $83,900, after comments from New York Federal Reserve President John Williams eased concerns about a prolonged period of tighter U.S. monetary policy.

Williams said he still considers one additional interest-rate hike this year to be appropriate, but does not expect further rate increases in 2027 as inflation approaches the Federal Reserve’s 2% target. His remarks helped push the U.S. dollar lower and supported a broader “risk-on” tone across markets.

That macro backdrop carried into crypto, reinforcing a pattern seen in recent months: major digital assets have been reacting less to crypto-specific catalysts and more to shifts in the outlook for rates, the dollar, and global liquidity conditions.

Altcoins also advanced. Zcash (ZEC) led gains among major tokens, rising nearly 7% during the move.

Outside of crypto, Asian equities strengthened after the Fed comments, and Korean chipmakers snapped a five-day losing streak ahead of key U.S. data later this week.

Energy prices remained a key point of focus. Brent crude traded near $106 a barrel amid renewed Middle East tensions, a dynamic Williams has previously linked to near-term inflation pressure.

Attention is now turning to Thursday’s U.S. inflation report, a major input into rate expectations that has been influencing both traditional markets and crypto pricing.
