Dormant Bitcoin Whales Awaken, Moving Millions After 13 Years

Bitcoin’s Old Guard Stirs as 13-Year-Old Wallets Move Millions

Bitcoin wallets that have been inactive for roughly 13 years have moved holdings worth millions, bringing renewed attention to coins associated with the network’s earliest era.

The transfers involve wallets created during Bitcoin’s formative years, when the ecosystem was considerably smaller and the asset had a much shorter trading history. Activity from such addresses is closely watched because it can signal that long-dormant holdings are being reorganized or transferred.

However, a wallet movement alone does not establish that the bitcoin was sold. Coins may be moved between addresses controlled by the same owner, transferred for custody or security reasons, or sent to another party. The transactions also do not, by themselves, identify who controls the wallets.

The movements highlight the continued influence of Bitcoin’s early supply on on-chain activity. As older holdings reappear, analysts typically examine the destination addresses and subsequent transactions for additional context rather than treating the initial transfer as evidence of a market decision.
