GRVT Burns 1.1M Tokens as 2.0 Debuts

GRVT Burns 1.1 Million Tokens as Countdown to Grvt 2.0 Begins
Grvt, a self-custodial trading platform built on its own zero-knowledge (ZK) chain, said the Foundation’s token issuer has completed its first buyback of the GRVT token, purchasing and burning 1.1 million GRVT on the open market.
According to the announcement, the burn permanently removed close to 1% of GRVT’s circulating supply at the time of purchase. The move is positioned as the first of five milestones ahead of Grvt 2.0, which is scheduled to roll out at the end of November 2026.
The company said the buyback can be verified on-chain. Purchases are executed through an independent execution partner, with tokens transferred to a designated burn address and removed from circulation. Grvt also pointed to a public buyback dashboard designed to track tokens purchased and burned, the share of circulating supply, cumulative burns, and transaction hashes.
Grvt CEO and co-founder Hong described the buyback program as a supportive mechanism alongside the platform’s product roadmap, adding that the issuer’s buybacks signal long-term commitment to the ecosystem and community.
The Foundation’s token issuer intends to conduct additional buybacks on a monthly basis, but emphasized they are discretionary, with no fixed purchase amounts or guaranteed schedule.
The buyback announcement follows GRVT’s token generation event in July 2026 and comes as Grvt outlines a series of product launches planned over the next several weeks.
- Grvt Earn (end of October 2026): Yield opportunities backed by tokenized fixed-income assets, with target yields of up to 11%. Grvt said returns are expected to come from underlying asset cash flows such as interest, premiums, and invoice-related income, with asset-supplying partners to be announced at launch. Target yields are not guaranteed.
- Stable Funding Perps (November 2026): Perpetual futures tied to commodities, stocks, foreign exchange, and indices. The contracts are planned to have zero trading fees and once-daily funding. Grvt aims to list more than 1,000 markets by the end of December 2026.
- Yield as Margin (November 2026): A feature that would allow eligible Grvt Earn balances to support trading positions while continuing to accrue yield, subject to product terms and risk parameters.
- Grvt 2.0 (end of November 2026): A redesigned self-custodial app intended to consolidate earning, trading, and yield-bearing margin into a single experience, alongside a new name, visual identity, and the company’s 2027 roadmap.
Grvt framed the roadmap around a capital-efficiency problem it observed in its user base. The company cited a trader survey conducted earlier in 2026 in which six in ten respondents reported keeping at least a quarter of their capital idle on the platform, while many said they moved funds elsewhere to pursue yields of 8% or more.
“Traders shouldn’t have to choose between putting their capital to work and keeping it ready to trade,” Hong said, describing Grvt 2.0 as centered on a single self-custodial balance that can support both earning and trading.
Founded in 2022, Grvt currently supports perpetual futures across roughly 200 cryptocurrency and real-world asset markets. The company also noted that the GRVT token confers no ownership, profit, or other economic rights.
