Mastercard and BVNK Launch Platform Merging Fiat and Stablecoins

Mastercard and BVNK Launch ‘Global Money Platform’ to Merge Fiat and Stablecoins

Mastercard and BVNK have launched the Mastercard Global Money Platform, a payments infrastructure service designed to let banks, fintechs and enterprises manage traditional currencies and stablecoins through a single application programming interface (API).

The platform is available now through BVNK and marks the first major product integration since Mastercard acquired BVNK in August 2026. The acquisition was valued at up to $1.8 billion, including $300 million in contingent payments, according to previously disclosed deal terms.

At the center of the new offering is what the companies call a global money account: a multi-currency account where fiat currencies and stablecoins can sit side by side. Through the single API, participating organizations can integrate functions to receive, hold, convert and transfer funds without building separate infrastructure for different payment rails.

The initial feature set includes:

  • Multi-currency accounts supporting both fiat and stablecoins
  • Real-time conversion between supported fiat currencies and stablecoins
  • Stablecoin-linked cards
  • Local bank payouts via Mastercard Move

Mastercard and BVNK said the platform is built as a modular infrastructure layer that can be embedded into a company’s own products under its own brand. Organizations can start with selected capabilities and add others as their needs change, and the platform can also be used internally for treasury, payments and settlement operations.

Stablecoins are digital assets designed to maintain a relatively stable value, typically by referencing a conventional currency. By combining stablecoin tooling with established payment infrastructure, the companies are positioning the platform as a way for regulated businesses to support both forms of money through a single integration.

BVNK co-founder and Chief Business Officer Chris Harmse framed the product as an extensible payments layer. “Global Money Platform will become the single infrastructure layer not just for stablecoins, but for every form of money,” Harmse said.

Additional capabilities are planned, including support for agentic commerce, alongside other account features such as configurable rewards, according to the companies’ statements.
