Ripple Bets $1B on AI-Powered Treasury Strategy

Ripple puts AI agents inside its $1 billion corporate treasury bet
Ripple is adding AI agents to Ripple Treasury, expanding the “treasury-native” AI capabilities it calls GSmart across the corporate finance platform it gained through its roughly $1 billion acquisition of GTreasury in October 2025.
The company said the upgraded system can monitor corporate treasury processes in real time, including liquidity, risk, and forecasting, and then recommend potential financial actions. Any transaction or financial action still requires human approval, keeping decision-making and execution under explicit governance controls.
Ripple positioned the expansion as a way to embed AI directly into the policies, data, and workflows treasury teams already use, with new capabilities spanning forecasting, liquidity management, risk management, reconciliation, and reporting. The goal is to help finance teams move faster while maintaining policy-based oversight.
The move is closely tied to Ripple’s broader push into enterprise treasury infrastructure. By purchasing GTreasury, Ripple entered the market for corporate treasury management systems, and has been building toward a platform intended to support management of both traditional and digital assets from one interface, following the rollout of native digital-asset functionality earlier in 2026.
Ripple’s approach also reflects a broader trend: AI agents are increasingly being tested and deployed in treasury functions across banks, corporate treasury teams, and central bank research. Industry coverage has highlighted the shift from experimentation toward production deployments, with an emphasis on the governance frameworks needed when software begins proposing—or autonomously performing—core treasury tasks.
- What changed: Ripple expanded GSmart AI across key treasury workflows, including forecasting, liquidity, risk, reconciliation, and reporting.
- How it works: AI agents can monitor conditions and suggest moves, but humans must approve every action.
- Why it matters: It underscores Ripple’s strategy to turn its GTreasury acquisition into an enterprise-grade treasury platform that blends traditional finance operations with digital-asset support.
