Ethereum treasury firm SharpLink stakes $170 million of ETH on Linea
SharpLink Gaming, a publicly traded Ethereum treasury firm, has deployed $170 million worth of ETH to Linea, an Ethereum layer-2 scaling network, the company said Thursday.
The Minneapolis-based firm said the move is part of its staking activity, following earlier plans to stake a portion of its ether holdings.
Linea framed the deployment as an example of large entities using layer-2 networks to participate in Ethereum while seeking operational efficiency. “This $170M ETH deployment with SharpLink reflects exactly what Linea is designed to enable: institutional-scale participation in Ethereum that combines productivity, security, and credibility,” Fox said.
Layer-2 networks like Linea are built to process transactions off Ethereum’s main chain while ultimately settling back to it, aiming to improve throughput and reduce costs. In this context, a nine-figure ETH deployment highlights how staking and treasury management activity is extending beyond Ethereum mainnet and into its scaling ecosystem.
