Tom Lee Bets on January Bitcoin Record, Warns of 2026 Volatility

Tom Lee calls for new bitcoin record in January, while warning of a volatile 2026

Tom Lee, managing partner and head of research at Fundstrat Global Advisors, said he expects Bitcoin to reach a new all-time high by the end of January 2026, while cautioning that the broader crypto market could face a turbulent year.

“I don’t think bitcoin has peaked yet,” Lee said. “We were overly optimistic about achieving the high-water mark before December, but I do believe that bitcoin can hit a new all-time high by the end of January 2026.”

Lee’s comments frame 2026 as a year that may be uneven in the near term but constructive overall for crypto markets, with momentum potentially improving later in the year. He described 2026 as volatile, but ultimately positive, and highlighted the possibility of a stronger second half.

The remarks matter because they underscore how prominent market strategists are weighing the balance between near-term turbulence and longer-term confidence in crypto. Lee’s forecast also reflects a reset of expectations after he said prior optimism about reaching a market peak before December proved premature.
