MapQuest Alerts Drivers to Nearby Flock License Plate Cameras

MapQuest Now Shows Drivers Where Flock Cameras Are Watching
MapQuest has begun showing drivers the locations of Flock cameras on its mapping platform, giving users a way to see where the surveillance systems are positioned while planning or navigating a route.
Flock cameras are used to monitor vehicles and capture information such as license plates. By making their locations visible on a consumer-facing map, MapQuest is bringing greater public attention to the presence of these systems on roads and in communities.
The change matters because drivers may not otherwise know where Flock cameras are operating. Displaying the locations can make roadside surveillance more visible and support broader public awareness of how vehicle-monitoring technology is deployed.
The move also reflects a wider debate over transparency, privacy and the use of automated camera networks. MapQuest’s mapping feature does not change how the cameras operate, but it gives drivers a clearer view of where they are watching.
