MEXC Reports Expanding AI Tokenized Stock Trading Activity

MEXC said trading volume in AI-related tokenized U.S. stocks and ETFs rose 88% month over month in September, exceeding the 63% growth it reported for non-AI assets. The exchange described the figures as evidence that trading interest was extending from semiconductors into optical communications, power equipment and data-center infrastructure.

The September figures also showed broader growth across MEXC’s traditional finance product suite, including tokenized stock spot products, Stock and Index Futures and Pre-IPO Futures. The data is reported by MEXC and was carried by NewsBTC, Coingabbar, Cryptonews and GlobeNewswire.

What happened

According to NewsBTC, MEXC’s tokenized U.S. stock spot trading volume rose 81% month over month in September. Within tokenized U.S. stock and ETF spot markets, the exchange said AI-related assets accounted for 48% of trading volume, compared with 44% in August.

That increase in share came alongside the reported 88% increase in AI-related trading volume. MEXC said non-AI assets grew 63% over the same period, meaning its AI-related segment expanded faster than the rest of the tokenized U.S. stock and ETF market on the platform.

GlobeNewswire reported that four AI infrastructure categories each recorded trading-volume growth of more than 90%. Semiconductors and memory rose 100%, optical communications and networking rose 99%, power and energy equipment rose 96%, and computing infrastructure and data centers rose 91%.

The results indicate that the activity MEXC categorizes as AI-linked was not limited to chipmakers. Its reported sector breakdown includes components and systems used in networking, electricity supply and computing capacity, areas tied to the broader infrastructure supporting AI development and deployment.

Semiconductor and memory-related assets nevertheless remained the largest component of activity in the exchange’s leading Stock and Index Futures products. GlobeNewswire said these assets occupied five of the top 10 Stock and Index Futures by volume and represented 77% of that ranking’s volume.

Micron, SK hynix and Sandisk held the top three positions in that futures ranking, according to GlobeNewswire. Together, those three names accounted for 67% of the volume among the top 10 products cited by MEXC.

Why it matters

The data provides a narrow view into how traders on one crypto exchange are using tokenized equity and ETF products. MEXC said AI-related products represented nearly half of its tokenized U.S. stock and ETF spot trading volume in September, making the theme a significant part of activity in that market segment.

The reported difference between AI and non-AI growth is also notable because it points to a concentration of trading interest in a defined set of equity-linked themes rather than uniform growth across all listed tokenized products. MEXC’s figures show AI-related volume rising faster, while the sector-level detail identifies where that participation was concentrated.

The expansion into optical communications, networking, power equipment and data centers matters because those categories sit beyond the most familiar AI trade, semiconductors. MEXC’s September data suggests traders were also accessing exposure to the infrastructure needed to connect, power and operate computing systems.

At the same time, the futures ranking shows that semiconductor and memory names retained a leading role. The reported 77% share for semiconductor- and memory-related products among the top 10 Stock and Index Futures underlines that the broadening theme did not displace chips as the central source of volume in MEXC’s cited futures list.

Background and context

Tokenized stocks allow crypto-exchange users to trade exposure to equities and ETFs alongside crypto assets. MEXC positions its traditional finance product data as an example of the convergence between crypto markets and equity-linked products within a single account.

In MEXC’s September breakdown, AI-linked names took six of the top 10 tokenized spots and accounted for 59% of volume in that ranking. That result is consistent with the exchange’s wider description of AI demand moving beyond chip-focused products into optical, power and data-center names.

MEXC also reported growth in product types beyond tokenized U.S. stock spot markets. GlobeNewswire said Pre-IPO Futures trading volume rose 60%, Japanese Stock Futures volume rose 47%, and the number of TradFi Futures trading pairs increased 15% month over month.

Among the Pre-IPO Futures movers identified by MEXC, Kimi rose 115%, Enflame rose 99% and OpenAI rose 51%, according to GlobeNewswire. The exchange said it offers more than 450 Stock and Index Futures pairs, over 200 tokenized U.S. stocks, and RealStocks access to more than 7,000 U.S. products.

What to watch

A key question is whether future MEXC reports continue to show AI-related tokenized stock and ETF activity gaining share relative to non-AI assets. The September figures put AI-linked products at 48% of the relevant spot volume, up from 44% in August.

It will also be important to follow whether the four infrastructure sectors maintain their roles in reported activity, or whether volume becomes more concentrated in semiconductor and memory products. MEXC’s current futures data shows chips and memory continuing to dominate the leading products by volume.

Additional exchange disclosures could clarify the relative contribution of spot products, Stock and Index Futures, Japanese Stock Futures and Pre-IPO Futures to the broader TradFi suite. The available figures show growth across each area, but they describe separate measures rather than a single combined volume total.
