Polymath and CineCity Debut Regulated Tokenized Film Investment

Polymath and CineCity Studios explore regulated tokenized film investment platform

Polymath Research Inc. and Chicago-based CineCity Studios said they are collaborating to explore the development of a technology-enabled investment platform aimed at film and entertainment investors, according to an Oct. 1, 2026 announcement issued in Toronto and Chicago.

The proposed project would combine Polymath’s infrastructure for regulated digital securities with CineCity’s film production ecosystem, with the goal of creating a tokenized investment vehicle designed to connect independent productions with investors through compliant, digitally administered securities.

Under the structure described, Polymath would act as the technology partner, providing infrastructure and operational tooling for digital securities issuance, investor onboarding, compliance workflows, investor management, and ongoing administration of tokenized interests over the life of an investment.

Polymath emphasized it is a technology provider and not a broker-dealer, funding portal, investment adviser, or placement agent. The companies also did not present the initiative as a live marketplace; the announcement frames the effort as an exploratory collaboration.

CineCity brings the production side of the equation. The studio operates a 140,000-square-foot film and television production campus in Chicago, positioning it to contribute industry relationships and access to projects that typically rely on fragmented financing arrangements.

The collaboration highlights how real-world asset tokenization is expanding beyond more standardized products such as tokenized Treasuries and money-market instruments. Film finance is structurally complex—often involving layered rights, distribution agreements, and bespoke legal arrangements—making it a demanding environment for any system designed to manage ownership, transfer restrictions, and investor administration within regulatory frameworks.

  • What’s happening: Polymath and CineCity are exploring a regulated, tokenized model for film and entertainment investment.
  • Polymath’s role: Provide issuance, onboarding, compliance, investor management, and lifecycle administration infrastructure for digital securities.
  • Status: The platform is being explored and has not been described as launched or open to investors.
